Privacy Policy

Effective date: Last updated:

FanFundU helps supporters turn everyday online shopping into cashback for school teams and youth organizations. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to our website, supporter and team admin accounts, the FanFundU browser extension, and our communications.

Information We Collect

We collect information you give us directly, information created when you use FanFundU, and limited information from partners.

  • Account information. Name, email address, password and, if you choose, a phone number when you register as a supporter or team admin; your language; your choices about marketing email and text messages; and the date and IP address when you accepted our Terms and this policy. You can add a ZIP code in your profile. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name and email address from them. If you turn on two-step sign-in or add a passkey, we keep what that needs (your phone number for codes, or the passkey’s public credential).
  • Team information. Team name, school or organization, sport or activity, city, state and ZIP code, the admin’s role, an optional second contact’s name and email, fundraising goals and team logo. For payouts, the admin sets up an account with our payment provider, Stripe, which collects the bank and identity details; we keep only Stripe’s account reference and show the last four digits of the payout account.
  • Shopping activity. When you go to a partner store through FanFundU: the store, the time, the page you started from and your IP address. Qualifying orders the store’s affiliate network reports to us: order number, date, amount, commission and status and, when the network sends them, the coupon code used and the general area of the purchase (city, region, country) — not your cart contents or card number. The teams your cashback supports, and any donations you make.
  • Device and usage data. Our servers log each request (page address, result and timing) for up to 14 days for security and troubleshooting. When you send a support, team-request or partner form, we keep your browser’s description (user agent). The browser extension sends the details described in Browser Extension. We do not use cookies to measure usage and do not infer your location from your IP address.
  • Information from others. Contacts (name, email, phone) a team admin imports in the Share Hub; names and jersey numbers of players added to a team roster; a coach’s name, email and phone when a supporter asks us to add their team; the second contact named when a team signs up; and which player’s link brought you to a team.

How We Use Information

We use information to run the FanFundU service: creating accounts, attributing purchases to the right team, calculating cashback, and sending payouts. We also use it to keep the service safe, respond to support requests, understand how features are used, and improve the product.

We send marketing email — for example, a note the morning after you visit a store without buying — unless you turn marketing email off. We show store promotions on our own site; we do not use your personal information to target ads on other sites. We do not sell personal information.

Browser Extension

The FanFundU browser extension notifies you when a store you are visiting offers cashback for your team, and helps activate that cashback with one click.

To do this, the extension downloads our list of partner stores and checks each page address against it inside your browser; addresses of other sites never leave your browser. When you visit a partner store, it reports the store and the type of page (for example, product or checkout) and whether it showed you a reminder. It also sends usage events — such as opening its menu, searching our store list (not your search words), or saving a favorite — with your browser and operating system, language, a random install identifier, and your account if you are signed in. When you activate cashback, it records the store page you were on (without anything after “?”) and your IP address. If another affiliate brought you to the store, it steps aside and records which network and rule caused that. You can turn off usage data and reminders in the extension’s menu. Stores receive only totals, never individual shoppers.

You can pause or uninstall the extension at any time from your browser’s extension settings. Uninstalling it does not affect your FanFundU account.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use only essential cookies: to keep you signed in and secure (including remembering a device you trust for two-step sign-in), to remember your language, and to credit a team’s player who shared a link with you. Your browser also keeps some settings on your device, such as your teams, favorites and recently viewed stores. Google, Apple and Stripe set their own cookies when you use their sign-in or payment forms. We do not use analytics, advertising or personalization cookies; if we ever do, they will stay off until you turn them on in .

When you go to a store through FanFundU, you pass through the store’s affiliate network, which sets its own cookies so the store knows your purchase should earn cashback for your team. Those cookies belong to the network and the store and follow their privacy policies; blocking them in your browser can stop your purchase from being credited.

How We Share Information

We share information only as needed to run the service:

  • Partner stores and affiliate networks. A click identifier that lets purchases be matched back to FanFundU. Stores do not receive your name or contact details from us. As you pass through a network on the way to a store, it sees your browser’s IP address and description, as any website does. Stores and networks receive only aggregate reports about the browser extension.
  • Service providers. Companies that run parts of the service for us: Microsoft Azure (hosting and database), Klaviyo (account and marketing email, and text-message sign-in codes), Postmark (sign-in, security and team email), Stripe (team payouts and donations), and Google or Apple if you sign in with them.
  • Your team. Team admins see team totals, supporter counts, which stores the money came from, and recent purchases and donations as store, amount and date — never who made them. Players’ public pages and team leaderboards show first name and last initial only.
  • Legal and safety. When required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of FanFundU, our users, and others.

Team Admin and Roster Data

Team admins can import contacts (name, email, phone) in the Share Hub and are responsible for having permission to upload them. We store them so the admin can invite them from their own email, text or WhatsApp app; we do not email or text them ourselves and do not add them to our marketing lists.

Coaches can add players to a team roster (first and last name, optional jersey number), and players can add themselves with the team’s roster link. Each player gets a link to share and a private page with their numbers; public pages and leaderboards show first name and last initial only. Team admins see team totals and supporter counts, recent purchases and donations without names, and each player’s recruiting numbers — not who supporters are or what they bought. A team’s admins see each other’s names and email addresses, and those of people asking to become admins.

Cashback, Orders, and Payouts

When you shop through FanFundU, partner stores and affiliate networks report qualifying orders to us so we can credit cashback to your team. These reports include the order number, date and amount, the commission earned and its status and, when the network sends them, the coupon code used and the general area of the purchase (city, region, country). They do not include your cart contents or payment card number.

Team payouts go through Stripe Connect: the team admin gives bank and identity details to Stripe, not to us. Donations are paid by card through Stripe; we keep the amount, fee, tip, the card’s country and Stripe’s payment reference. FanFundU does not store full bank account or card numbers.

Communications Preferences

We send service email (such as account verification, sign-in codes, password resets, payout notices and team updates) and, unless you turn it off, marketing email about deals and stores you have visited. If you add and verify a phone number, we can text you sign-in codes; we do not send marketing texts.

You can turn marketing email off in your profile or with the unsubscribe link in any marketing email. Service messages needed to run your account can’t be turned off while your account is active.

Children’s Privacy

FanFundU accounts are for adults — parents, coaches, boosters and other supporters — and the service is not directed to children under 13. Team rosters hold players’ names, and players are often minors: a coach adds them, or players add themselves with the team’s roster link. We store only a player’s first and last name and optional jersey number, and show only first name and last initial publicly. Coaches should add players only with a parent’s or guardian’s permission. If you believe we hold information about a child that we should not, contact us at support@fanfundu.com and we will remove it.

Data Retention

We keep personal information while your account is active and as long as needed for the purposes in this policy — for example, order, payout and donation records are kept for financial reporting. Server logs are kept for 14 days. You can ask us to delete your account as described in Your Rights and Choices.

Security

We protect information with administrative, technical, and physical safeguards, including encryption in transit and access controls: only authorized staff, from approved networks and with two-step sign-in, can see account and order details, to run and support the service. No online service can guarantee absolute security, so we encourage you to use a strong, unique password and to contact us right away if you suspect unauthorized access to your account. You can also turn on two-step sign-in or add a passkey.

Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or limit certain uses.

You can edit your profile and turn marketing email on or off in your account, and manage cookies in .
